Mike was named All-America at UC Irvine in 1982 and 1983. He received a degree in Social Science in 1984. He owns the Cornerstone Benefits Insurance Company.

Mike speaks fluent Spanish and served a Mormon mission to Venezuela in 1981 and 1982. He met his wife, Dina, in a UC Irvine Spanish class. His children are Adam 1(5/29/85). Christina (1/18/88) and Benjamin (5/29/90).
