Ed is Assistant Coach with the US Men's Water Polo team. Since 1993, Reed has been responsible for National Team video taping, providing technical analysis and managing special projects. At the 1996 Olympic Games, Reed will be Assistant Olympic Team Coach. Reed is the president of the American Water Polo Coaches Association. From 1971 to 1993, he was the Director of the Smith Swimming Center at Brown University. He also coached Brown's men's swimming and water polo teams during that time. At the 1987 and 1991 World University Games, Reed served as team manager. Reed was named "Eastern Water Polo Coach of the Year" in 1985, 1987 and 1989. He served as the New England Water Polo Coaches Association's president for 16 years and was inducted into the Rhode Island Aquatics Hall of Fame in 1986. Reed was head swimming coach at Tufts University from 1966-1971. Reed earned his master of science and bachelor of science in Physical Education from Springfield Massachusetts College. He lives in Tuscaloosa, AL with his wife Andrea and son Scott. He was born October 22, 1943 in Fort Smith, AK.
